I think they [the Australian racing industry] are purposely hiding this from the general public because if they were to know I don't think we would be getting 100,000 people going to the Melbourne Cup.

This is the sort of material that will shake the [Australian horse racing] industry to the core.

We're talking about destroying [slaughtering] horses on an industrial level.

CARO MELDRUM-HANNA, REPORTER: On a still winter’s night in Caboolture, Queensland, undercover cameras record a group of horses gated inside a series of holding pens. This is not a safe place for these animals. Recent injuries are noticeable – an ominous sign this is a place of violence. Brandings burnt into their hides reveal these aren’t just any horses. They’re registered thoroughbred racehorses. Night after night, more and more appear, and according to the racing industry’s own policies and rules, they should not be ending up here. CARO MELDRUM-HANNA: Australian horse racing is a billion-dollar industry and growing. Big business, big government revenue, and big prize money requires big breeding with the industry producing more than 14,000 foals last financial year.

#MOHM NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We’ve been threatened by those in the horse racing industry and those who benefit from horse slaughter more times than we can count.

But we are not going away.

We are going to persist until horse slaughter no longer exists for any purpose within Australia -- and until the horse racing industry makes drastic changes.

We are going to continue our hands-on work to offer lifelong sanctuary to as many horses as possible.  We generally have 20 at just one of our locations - at any given time.

We have the acreage to take on more horses as financial support allows.

You do NOT need a PayPal account to contribute.
