All Things Pink was born at a well-known stud in NSW. Being in NSW, her safety should have been guaranteed, but like so many others, it wasn’t. She was born on the 29th August, 2013 at the Bowness stud in NSW, she was by Domesday and out of My Peggy Fu. She was the last foal that My Peggy Fu had. My Peggy Fu is listed in the stud book as having died on 31st August 2014, one year and two days after All Things Pink was born.
All Things Pink was cared for once. When she was listed as Lot 147 at the 2015 Ingliss VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale, she was the picture of health, well grown with a spark in her eye and a coat that gleamed. What happened after that? All we know is that she first trialled on the 25th October 2016 where she came last out of 5 then nothing for nearly 17 months until she had her first actual race on the 11th March 2018 where she came 9th out of 11. She raced a further 13 times where she came last or near last each time with the exception of one third ranking.
Her last race was the 18th August, 2019 and less than five months later, like so many racehorses, she was destined for death. It was the 12th January, 2020 that she was first noticed at the second property of Peter Loffel. She was emaciated, covered in bites and scars, desperately looking for food and wore a tell-tale neck collar and tag. That’s all she was now, just a number, her only value being what her meat was worth, just like the other 20 or so horses in the same desolate paddock.
Hay was only fed sporadically and once it was gone the horses ate manure, dirt and chewed on trees. All Things Pink languished there for over two months, the spark in her eye had disappeared and her once glowing coat was dull as she fought a fruitless battle just to stay alive.
By the 17th March, 2020 she, and every one of her paddock mates, were back at the main property of Peter Loffel waiting to go on their final ride to their death.
All Things Pink was worth more than meat. She was a sentient being who gave her best for horse racing, her only crime being that she wasn’t as fast as they would have liked.. She may have had no value to whoever discarded her, but she and her paddock mates will never be forgotten by people who care and are fighting for change. Will you help fight?
