AERIAL SHOOTING OF BRUMBIES HUMANE?

MORE HUMANE THAN ROUND UPS?

MORE HUMANE THAN NON-LETHAL ALTERNATIVES?

The paragraph above is taken from Submission No 121 provided to the “INQUIRY INTO PROPOSED AERIAL SHOOTING OF BRUMBIES IN KOSCIUSKO NATIONAL PARK” DATED 13 OCTOBER 2023.

The organisation responsible for this submission with the following line is – believe it or not – the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) – YES REALLY!

GRAPHIC DESCRIPTIONS FOLLOW BUT NO GRAPHIC PHOTOS

When you hear experts representing Australia’s National Parks and politicians including Labour Minister Penny Sharpe and now the Australian Veterinary Association state that aerial shooting of Brumbies is humane, we would like you to consider recent testimony given during the NSW Animal Welfare Committee public hearing.

We’ve included  a 4-minute video (scroll down just a bit) of testimony given by lawyer, Ms Tara Ward — and immediately below we’ve paraphrased a portion of what she had to say.

“According to this model, ground shooting of feral horses is the most humane method of control, followed by aerial shooting, then mustering and trapping”.

Australian Veterinary Association (AVA)

Ms. Ward cites the example of a recent aerial shooting that took place during foaling season – and yes foals were shot.

Some horses were chased by 3 helicopters and shot for a total of 9 minutes.

Ms Ward also states that virtually none of the shots rendered horses insensible – that deaths were not instant but instead long and dragged out and caused great suffering.

There are NOT any gory pictures in the video above – or on this page any where  – in the video above you will simply see one of the witnesses during an Animal Welfare Committee meeting, Ms Ward, giving an overview of a recent aerial slaughter of wild horses.

AUSSIES TAKE 2 MINUTES & CONTACT YOUR VET

We would like to believe that the majority of veterinarians in Australia do not agree with the organisation representing them.

PLEASE consider taking 2 minutes right now to make your vet aware that the AVA included the above statement in their submission.

BUT please hurry because as you’ll see below, time is running out.
