BEN YOLE FOUND GUILTY OF FIXING RACES & ANIMAL ABUSE

Early in 2023, Harness Racing in Tasmania made headlines on national and international news agencies when it was revealed that Ben Yole was found guilty of “team driving”.

ABC NEWS REPORTS

In short:

A report into Tasmania’s harness racing industry, sparked by an ABC News investigation, has found the state’s leading trainer had engaged in race fixing and animal abuse.

The report also found the role of director of racing at the government agency charged with policing integrity within the industry was “perceived as lacking true independence, particularly in serious integrity-related matters”.

What’s next? The Minister for Racing says it is a “dark day” for the industry and says he was “shocked” by the report’s contents.

Apparently team driving means that a trainer has nominated lots of his horses for a race and they decide amongst themselves who is going to win.  How would you feel if you bet on a race that was fixed?

An inquiry was announced and early in January 2024, it was released. People have alleged that the government had the report for 2 months before releasing it. So far the government has not announced any plans to safeguard or improve the racing industry.

Harness Racing is a statutory body in each state. That means that like the gallops (horses racing with a rider), harness racing falls under state legislation. (AND that means they are subject to Freedom of Information law.)

The report is called the Murrihy Report and it found Ben Yole guilty of  team driving and animal abuse. This story is horrendous. It keeps getting worse.

Not only has Ben Yole ripped off the punters (AKA those betting on racing) and the bookies by cheating, he has been cruel to horses.

And now we find he had a relationship with a greyhound trainer. People are unaware of this nexus.

RACEHORSES FED TO GREYHOUNDS

When trainers have used up the horses, in both gallops and harness racing and breeding, they send them to a knackery, and around the knackery are the greyhound trainers. So the horse gets chopped up and fed to greyhounds.

It is a circle of depravity.

One gambling industry feeds another gambling industry.

In the case of Ben Yole, he dispensed with the knackery and the horses went straight to the greyhound trainer. The greyhound trainer also had the same tactic as Ben Yole. He nominated lots of dogs for the races.

And now we find Ben Yole had a relationship with a greyhound trainer.  People are unaware of this nexus.

Yole and Bullock have had a long working history together, with Bullock disposing of failed pacers for Yole.

Yole is the dominant harness racing trainer in Tasmania, like Bullock is of greyhounds, fielding so many horses it is all but impossible for him to lose.

In March 2023, Bullock was named in an investigation into betting and race tactics involving Yole’s drivers and horses.

Written in Silk, a horse owned by Bullock and trained by Yole, won race nine at the Burnie Cup against the odds; prior to the race, Bullock laid a substantial bet which lowered Written in Silks odds and tripled the winner’s prize money.

All horses driven in the race were from the Yole harness stables, leading to questions of race fixing and corruption.

There were also claims that Yole flooded races with horses, giving drivers instructions as to who from the Yole team was expected to win; unwanted or underperforming horses were then allegedly sent to Bullock to be slaughtered to feed his greyhounds. [Source.]

BEN YOLE AND TONGUE TIES

Ben Yole left a tongue tie on Blings on Fire for 4 days, yes that is correct.

Tongue ties are used in both codes of racing.

Horses look distressed when they have them on.

A tongue tie involves tying a band around the tongue and then tying it under the jaw

Both codes have a rule and it says a tongue tie can be applied right before the race and then removed straight away after the race.

Poor Blings on Fire had one on for 4 days.

He couldn’t eat and people claimed he was about to die.

You can’t tell us no one noticed.

People have alleged that tongue ties are left on as punishment.

The story gets worse.

Blings on Fire is now listed as deceased.

And then it has come out that Ben Yole had a relationship with a greyhound trainer who fed the horses from Yole to his dogs.
