IT’S HAPPENING YET AGAIN
Oh, and we’re wondering if sites and Facebook Groups set up to put a shiny spit polish on the horse racing industry’s tarnished image are going to be covering this story.
Likely not – right?
#KickUpForRacing what do YOU think?
BUT other sites are pretty well forced to, including horse racing own, RACENET.
Excerpts from the Racenet article include the following:
Racing Victoria stewards have levelled a betting charge against jumps jockey Aaron Mitchell.
Mitchell allegedly made and/or facilitated 311 bets on Australian thoroughbred races through a betting account last year between May 26 and December 14.
Under the Australian Rule of Racing it is an offence for a jockey or apprentice jockey to bet, or have interest in a bet, or facilitate a bet, on any thoroughbred race in any jurisdiction around the world.
The article goes on to state…
Stewards on Wednesday reported separate charges against registered owner Gavan Pratt and trainer Wayne Walters.
Pratt faces 17 charges in relation to the care and welfare of horses.
Four of the charges pertain to allegedly failing to provide the necessary veterinary treatment to horses, while 13 relate to adequate nutrition of horses in his care.
Walters’s matter relates to a positive swab taken from the horse Fifth Husband after the gelding won a Benchmark 58 at Nhill last December.
The post-race urine sample contained Lignocaine, a local anaesthetic, which is a prohibited substance on race day.

#MOHM NEEDS YOUR HELP!
We’ve been threatened by those in the horse racing industry and those who benefit from horse slaughter more times than we can count.
But we are not going away.
We are going to persist until horse slaughter no longer exists for any purpose within Australia -- and until the horse racing industry makes drastic changes.
We are going to continue our hands-on work to offer lifelong sanctuary to as many horses as possible. We generally have 20 at just one of our locations - at any given time.
We have the acreage to take on more horses as financial support allows.
BUYING VERSUS RESCUING
WHAT'S YOUR DEFINITION OF RESCUING A HORSE?Above are just a few of the horses that we've rescued. Some were surrendered by owners, and others we've outbid doggers also known as kill buyers at auctions so that they didn't end up on a slaughter truck and at any of the...
