ACCIDENTS HAPPEN IN ANY SPORT…
Thoroughbred horse trainer Gai Waterhouse – see video below – states “Accidents happen in any sport”. She also states “People have become so weak and prissy nowadays“. Again, see the video below.
Around the time of Gai’s speech on March 30, 2023 TWO racehorses died, Florescent Star (March 18, 2023) and the day before her speech — Temple of Artemis (March 29, 2023)

APRIL 24, 2023 – A JOCKEY DIED.
______
MOHM: Not to diminish the death of jockeys on the track – or off – the difference when it comes to the so-called “sport” of horse racing is that horses do not have a choice. Human athletes have a choice as to whether to train and compete, horses do NOT.
MOHM: Retired human athletes who “age out” of competition, or have career-ending injuries, or are not big money earners are NOT slaughtered…
Yet, in horse racing, unwanted horses are referred to as wastage and race horses are slaughtered by the thousands each and every year.
Horses AND jockeys die on and at the track each year. Do a quick Google search and see how many racehorses have died in Australia so far in 2023 and on April 24, 2023 a jockey died.
We’ve posted a fraction of the horse deaths on our “kick up for racing” facts/blog page. We don’t have enough hours in the day to keep up with all the racing wrongdoings.
One other thing, if it is “weak and prissy” to care about horses then we freely admit that we are “weak and prissy” — and we are proud to be so.
Who’s with us?

August 2019:
Australian horse racing industry figures show 20 jockeys have been killed in the country since 2000, 17 of them during races and three during track work. In February, a Victoria state trainer died, also after falling from a horse during a training run.
#MOHM THREATENED?
We’ve been threatened by those in the horse racing industry and those who benefit from horse slaughter more times than we can count.
But we are not going away.
We are going to persist until horse slaughter no longer exists for any purpose within Australia -- and until the horse racing industry makes drastic changes.
We are going to continue our hands-on work to offer lifelong sanctuary to as many horses as possible. We generally have 20 at just one of our locations - at any given time.
We have the acreage to take on more horses as financial support allows.
HORSES AND JOCKEYS DIE IN AUSTRALIA
YES, JOCKEYS HAVE A CHOICE & HORSES DO NOT...NOTE: THIS IS A REPOST OF AN OLDER POST FROM 2019 - BUT WE THOUGHT IT WAS TIME TO REPOST IT AGAIN!There are some who advocate for improvements or even the banning of horse racing who do not feel sorry for jockeys...
HORSE DIES JOCKEY PLEADS GUILTY
TOO MANY HORSES DIE ON THE TRACK TO KEEP UP...All one has to do is Google to see just how many horses have died on or at the track so far in 2023. We don't have enough hours in the day to post them all. We spend a great deal of time and energy educating racing fans...
