AFTER 22 WEEKS OF PROTESTS
September 25, 2025:
After 22 weeks of protests by a group organized by Carly Wines and referred to on Facebook as…
After the Farm Transparency Project stepped in last week and documented conditions on a Mt Eliza property owned by disgraced, former horse trainer Maxine Fraser and…
After countless neighbours, whistleblowers, and others contacted the RSPCA, government officials, and the press…
(See the CALL TO ACTION near the bottom of this page.)
NOTE it’s been confirmed that 17 horses remain on the property. (Possibly 18 horses.) Dogs and goats also remain on the property in Frazer’s “so called” care.
Let’s be clear: this didn’t happen because Racing Victoria or the RSPCA of Victoria “did their job.”
It happened because ordinary people refused to be silent.
The RSPCA took far too long to act — and that delay cost animals their lives. They must be held accountable, just as Fraser must.
Fraser’s cruelty is not an isolated case.
Maxine Frazer once held a Racing Victoria license, and despite repeated concerns about her conduct and character, she was allowed to continue in the industry until her licence was eventually revoked.
Even then, she was left free to keep dozens of animals, unchecked, until starvation and death exposed the horror on her property.
Racing Victoria must answer for enabling people like Fraser and then washing their hands of responsibility once the industry is done with them and horses in their so called care.
TAKE ACTION
The truth is, these animals didn’t just suffer because of Fraser. They suffered because of a system built on profit and exploitation — a system that parades racehorses for gambling profit while discarding them as ‘wastage‘ to be neglected and treated cruelly (or slaughtered) once they’re no longer useful.
Racing Victoria and the RSPCA both failed these horses.
This rescue was only possible because of community action.
We thank the Farm Transparency Project, Carly Wines and the tireless volunteers she organized who protested week after week outside Fraser’s property, the Peaceful Protest for Mt Eliza Horses campaigners — and the neighbours, whistleblowers, and countless others who contacted the RSPCA, government officials, and the press.
Without this relentless public pressure, those horses would still be suffering in silence.
But this fight is far from over.
Goats and dogs remain on the property.
Fraser has yet to face charges.
Racing Victoria and the RSPCA have yet to take responsibility.
👉 We must keep the pressure on.
Keep protesting.
Keep writing.
Keep speaking out.
(See the CALL TO ACTION near the bottom of this page.)
Justice for these animals will only come when Fraser is held accountable, when Racing Victoria is exposed for its complicity, and when the RSPCA of Victoria is forced to answer for its severely delayed action.
Until then, the system will continue to fail the very animals it claims to protect — unless we refuse to back down.
SUPPORT OUR WORK
At Meet Our Horse Meat, we place immense value on every donation we receive.
Your generosity fuels our investigations, keeps our reporting independent, and allows us to:
Expose cruelty and corruption in the horse slaughter industry.
Advocate for stronger laws and enforcement to protect horses.
Campaign for humane end-of-life solutions for all equines.
Educate the public about food fraud and animal welfare issues.
Push for transparency and accountability in racing and breeding.
Every contribution—no matter the size—helps us shine a light on what others want to keep hidden.
Together, we can end the exploitation and ensure every horse is treated with dignity.
#MOHM THREATENED?
We’ve been threatened by those in the horse racing industry and those who benefit from horse slaughter more times than we can count.
But we are not going away.
We are going to persist until horse slaughter no longer exists for any purpose within Australia -- and until the horse racing industry makes drastic changes.
We are going to continue our hands-on work to offer lifelong sanctuary to as many horses as possible. We generally have 20 at just one of our locations - at any given time.
We have the acreage to take on more horses as financial support allows.
