CLARIFICATION FOR ANYONE WHO IS CONFUSED
MEET OUR HORSE MEAT AKA #mohm
IS AGAINST ANY CRUELTY OR EXPLOITATION OF HORSES
That includes racing, rodeos, the slaughter of horses at knackeries and abattoirs, along with the cruel and needless shooting of wild horses.
Sometimes we focus on one issue more than the others.
We are a team – we all have multiple horses.
Many of us ride or have ridden – and to a very high standard.
LET’S CLEAR THE AIR ABOUT
WHAT SOME ASSUME ABOUT US…
We are NOT about deterring people from owning horses.
We are NOT deterring people from riding horses.
ON THE CONTRARY…
- We want people to give horses homes, forever if possible
- Our team between us has well over 20 horses
- Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Quarter Horses, Minis, Draft and Draft Crosses, Warmbloods and previously Stock Horses
- Most rescued when still young and perfectly sound. Yes, amazing horses end up slaughtered in Australia
- Lately our focus has been heavily weighted towards advocating against the slaughtering of wild horses (Our team members locked arms with Brumby advocates and started a separate website: BrumbyFacts.org.)
- We often focus on the horse racing industry because together with the breeding industry, they are the worst offenders in terms of numbers, discarding horses and feeding the slaughter pipeline.
- This is NOT to say everyone involved in the industry is bad, the system is the culprit, only pretending to care about horses, and pretending they retrain/rehome the majority of them
- Many people are asking what the 1.5% of prize money set aside to help retiring race horses is actually doing to help horses
- No one seems to know or see much evidence that horses are being cared for after their racing careers end
- The small percentage of horses who are part of the rehoming program, are used to give the illusion that ALL the 8,500 horses who are retired each year are having a great life. That is simply NOT the case.

DOGGERS
AN OPEN LETTER TO THOSE DEFENDING DOGGERSThis is directed at those who defend "doggers". But first, there may be those who don't know what a dogger is. In Australia, a person who collects, buys or is given horses and takes them to slaughter is known as a dogger....
