We are not convinced that the fact that Meramist Abattoir is NOT currently slaughtering horses for human consumption is permanent.
We’re hearing rumours that the business has been sold and that the intention is that moving forward cattle will be slaughtered. PLEASE NOTE we stated this is a RUMOUR.
We will update the site as soon as we know more.

What we do know is that even IF Meramist is no longer going to be slaughtering horses for human consumption that there are 30+ knackeries in Australia slaughtering horses for pet/dog food and…
We will NOT stop our advocacy efforts until the barbaric practice of slaughtering horses within Australia for human consumption OR any other purpose is banned.
